What is an (EMT) - Emergency Medical Technician?
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) work in ambulances to provide emergency care to the sick and injured.
EMTs have learned basic and advanced medical skills to help patients during transport to nearby medical centers.
EMTs many times work with other public safety professionals during rescues involving everything from car accidents and plane crashes to medical emergencies such as heart attacks and strokes.
EMTs usually collaborate with another EMT or a paramedic in ambulances and fire trucks.
Usually, one person drives while the other works on the patient. To take care of their patients, EMTs are well-versed in medical procedures, medical ethics, advanced life support, and special rescue techniques.

What is an AEMT?
An Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) is a highly skilled healthcare professional who provides critical pre-hospital care in emergency situations. Building on the foundational training of an EMT, AEMTs are trained to perform advanced procedures such as starting IV lines, administering medications, managing airways, and using more complex medical equipment.
AEMTs serve a vital role in the emergency response system, bridging the gap between EMTs and paramedics. They are often the first to assess and stabilize patients at the scene of an accident or medical emergency, working under medical protocols to deliver life-saving interventions.
At GA EMS Training Center, we equip future AEMTs with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to perform under pressure and make a real difference in the communities they serve.

Is our school the right fit?
When you begin your EMT training you will have many options available. The two main avenues to obtain your certification are to complete a program at a technical school or private school.
GA EMS Training Center is a private school located in the South Metro Atlanta area that specializes in emergency medical and safety education. Our focus is on occupational safety and health education.
Also, consider these important points:
- Our programs range from 7-12 months for our combined EMT/AEMT courses. Technical school programs often last 15 months or more
- Our program does NOT involve any core classes or mandatory entrance tests. Technical school programs require you to pass an entrance exam and attend multiple core classes
- Our student-to-teacher ratios are much better than most schools
- Our program consists of classroom learning, clinical experience, online instruction and support, and a large instructor network
- Our program often costs 75% less than many other schools
